Do the Twist

Everyone’s all a-titter about Witten’s latest, which appeared today. He studies Maximal Helicity-Violating amplitudes (n2n-2 gluons of one chirality and 22 of the other) in perturbative large-N, 𝒩=4\mathcal{N}=4 Yang-Mills theory. After transforming from momentum space to twistor space, he find that the amplitudes are supported on certain holomorphic curves in twistor space. And he relates this to a computation in the open topological B-model with target space CP 3|4CP^{3|4}.

I’m wondering how the comprehensive summary came to be posted just a few hours (if that) after the paper itself was available, in the wee small hours of Tuesday morning.

Perhaps there were back-channels involved… either that or an all-nighter.
