MT Courseware
Liz Lane Lawley has a decided to adapt MovableType for use as CourseWare. Here’s an example of one of her courses.
Since BlackBoard, UT’s Courseware de jure1, sucks in general and doesn’t support MathML in particular, her ideas look pretty attractive. I’m gonna look into this for my next course website.
Still need to work out an authentication scheme, though …
1 Yes, we’d consider allowing you to use the UTDirect system to authenticate your students, but not if you want to use it for Courseware or for handing out grades. “[I]t is up to the EID team to ensure that the EID logon page is not used for applications that duplicate standard applications, such as Blackboard [for Courseware] and eGradeBook [for grades].”

That sounds a bit silly. While I understand that they don’t want everyone reinventing the wheel, but since MT is free, I don’t see what the big deal is. Especially if this Blackboard sucks so badly.
It’s very interesting, though, to see this new application for MT. Is there anything MT can’t do?
