Note:These pages make extensive use of the latest XHTML and CSS Standards. They ought to look great in any standards-compliant modern browser. Unfortunately, they will probably look horrible in older browsers, like Netscape 4.x and IE 4.x. Moreover, many posts use MathML, which is, currently only supported in Mozilla. SVG Plugin

Joanna Karczmarek points out to me that Mozilla/Firefox on Windows requires version 6 of the SVG plugin in order to view the figure in the previous post. Win/IE does fine with version 3.0.x of the plugin, as does Mozilla/Firefox on MacOSX and Linux.

If you don’t have the plugin installed, then you get a crufty old GIF image as a replacement. In addition to looking bad, it doesn’t rescale when you zoom (magnify or shrink) the text in your browser.

The new Opera supports it natively. Very cool.

I wasn’t sure what subset of SVG is supported by the new Opera. If it coincides with the subset I’m using (whatever is spit out by Adobe Illustrator when I save a document in SVG format), then that is very cool, indeed.

It also works fine with the new Opera 8.0B3 on Linux. :)
