Note:These pages make extensive use of the latest XHTML and CSS Standards. They ought to look great in any standards-compliant modern browser. Unfortunately, they will probably look horrible in older browsers, like Netscape 4.x and IE 4.x. Moreover, many posts use MathML, which is, currently only supported in Mozilla. My best suggestion (and you will thank me when surfing an ever-increasing number of sites on the web which have been crafted to use the new standards) is to upgrade to the latest version of your browser. If that's not possible, consider moving to the Standards-compliant and open-source Mozilla browser.

2010 Octoberfest

Posted by John Baez

Canada has traditionally been a great place for category theory… and the tradition lives on:

Here’s the announcement:

The Category Theory “Octoberfest” is an annual workshop, traditionally held in October, bringing together researchers in category theory and its applications.

This year’s meeting will be hosted in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada.

There will be an informal welcome reception in the evening of October 22. The scientific program starts on October 23, and consists of one and a half days of research talks.

Research talks

If you wish to give a talk please send a title and abstract to Peter Selinger by October 1. Time slots are limited, so please register early if you would like to be considered for a talk.

Student support

We encourage graduate student participation at the workshop. Students will pay a reduced registration fee. We will also be able to provide limited financial support; if you are interested in this, please email Peter Selinger.

Accommodations

To be announced.

Registration

If you would like to attend the meeting, please register by emailing Peter Selinger. There will be a reasonable on-site registration fee to cover workshop costs.

Previous meetings
