Regime Change

I previously linked to Eminem’s searing new single, Mosh. Well, now the video has been released. Directed by Ian Inaba of Guerilla News Network, it take “shrill” to a whole new level.

Apparently, Mr. Mathers is seriously committed to Get-Out-the-Vote to “disarm this weapon of mass destruction that we call our president… for the present.” Amazing how 4 years of this Administration can turn even a bad-boy Rapper to Civics Lessons, albeit very, very angry ones.

It’s a disgusting video. The “music” is pretty bad, but the message is incredibly dumb. A random conglomerate of ideas and headlines of articles glued by Eninem’s annoying personality.

There are roughly 3 MPEG files of Eminem in my collection, and I have not erased them yet because sometimes it may be fun. But these old videos are still so much better than this new rubbish.

It’s sad that so much money has been clearly wasted to create this new video. Well, that’s a tax we pay for freedom and capitalism: assholes are often able to earn and waste a lot of money because other assholes buy their media.

Pay to see it, or pay to produce it? Nobody is paying to see it. Just flip on MTV. It’s been the Number 1 Video in their rotation since Wednesday. If you mean pay to pay to produce it, shouldn’t you be happy your political opponents are wasting their money producing bad music videos?

Lessee, now. The protagonists depicted in the video are

  • Lloyd Banks, the Rapper from G-Unit, and victim of Racial Profiling.
  • “Private Kelly,” returning from a tour of duty to his wife and small children, only to find that a “Stop-Loss Order” has him reassigned to Iraq. I have several friend in Private Kelley’s predicament. One, in Military Intelligence, is on his second tour in Iraq.
  • “Tenant 508,” a single-mother who is evicted from her apartment, just as the President announces another massive tax-giveaway to the ultra-wealthy on TV.

Yep, these folks are dangerous. And, if they ever put 2 and 2 together and realize that their predicaments are related, that would be big trouble for your candidate. No wonder you’re afraid.

Well we wouldn’t really expect anything else would we, from Lubos. He had repeatedly shown us that his viewpoint on science is that his assertions about anything ipso facto make it true (most recently let’s look at the recent Peter Woit blog threads on whether string theory contributed anything to TQFT, or whether women belong in physics).

This is of course the modus operandi of the Bush administration — state claims that are outright lies, react in fury when you are challenged, then start flailing out in every direction, hoping to muddy the situation so much no-one remembers that the starting points were outright lies.

So it’s hardly surprising to see Lubos madly in love with the Bush administration — and one should look at this larger picture of his behavior to put his physics opinions into perspective.

Maybe he’s right, sure, maybe string theory is the theory of the universe. Or maybe he’s a loud-mouthed a-hole who’s more interested in bludgeoning other physicists into submission in a way that proves he’s the alpha male, than in whether string theory actually is correct.

I haven’t yet had to censor the comments on this blog (except for spam). But I am not going to tolerate personal attacks, name-calling, or vituperative flame wars. And I will start censoring/deleting comments if this persists.
