Late Night Musings: Bug Girl Edition
The internet is a bottomless fount of the bizarre:
However heinous it is to make a living selling pubic vermin over the internet, it is somehow even more despicable to take people’s money and then NOT send them pubic lice.
Did all of this exist before the Web? Or have people just gotten a whole lot weirder in the past 15 years?

Occam’s razor suggests that all of this did exist. However, without a platform that offers the potential to reach millions instantly, these things were curiosities, and the people who did them often ostracised, whether inadvertently and benignly or very purposefully.
There was previously no long tail people could ride.
(I remember my own quest to find peers in programming. Prior to the internet, it was nigh impossible to meet almost anyone who was remotely as interested and capable. I only know a handful of them. Since the internet, I can find entire communities of hackers whose abilities tower above mine.)
