Note:These pages make extensive use of the latest XHTML and CSS Standards. They ought to look great in any standards-compliant modern browser. Unfortunately, they will probably look horrible in older browsers, like Netscape 4.x and IE 4.x. Moreover, many posts use MathML, which is, currently only supported in Mozilla. My best suggestion (and you will thank me when surfing an ever-increasing number of sites on the web which have been crafted to use the new standards) is to upgrade to the latest version of your browser. If that's not possible, consider moving to the Standards-compliant and open-source Mozilla browser.

MarsEdit

For many years, I was an enthusiastic user of ecto. Unfortunately, Adriaan gradually lost interest, and ecto3 languished – seemingly forever – as bug-ridden, user-unfriendly, beta software. Eventually, he sold it to illuminex, where it continues to languish (though I think they’re actually trying to charge people for using buggy, user-unfriendly beta software).

Anyway, to make a long story short, I’ve switched to MarsEdit, which – unlike ecto3 – is not the least bit painful to use.

To celebrate, I created some MarsEdit TextFilters.

Re: MarsEdit

Hey, thanks for switching to MarsEdit! I am glad that you appreciate the usability of the software. Although the pace of development might feel a little slow lately, rest assured I’m planning lots of great improvements for future releases, as well.

Re: MarsEdit

Thanks for stopping by! That’s what I call an attentive developer.

There is one feature that I miss from ecto. It’s a Validate HTML menu option, which takes the formatted preview of your post (a complete HTML document), and uses W3C Validator API to validate it.

Saves me a certain amount of grief before posting…

Re: MarsEdit

Hi again - sorry I wasn’t more attentive after all :) I had it on my TODO list to come check back on the comments here, and only just noticed it again.

Thanks for the feedback about the Validate HTML feature. I agree that would be a cool thing to add to MarsEdit.
